Batch Size One

The mere fact you are reading this is proof that our adopted Batch Size One technique will serve you well. After all, everyone is different; everyone wishes their products were a bit more individual and thus a bit more exclusive. The Internet is a melting pot of home design ideas. The Internet has made our customers more knowledgeable, more researched, more brand aware. This means everything we do is now more one-off than ever before.

The trend towards the manufacture of individually configured products continues to gather pace in the kitchen and cabinet industry. Markets are calling for customised kitchens and cabinet designs at knock-down prices. Anyone capable of producing this type of one-off product economically, has every chance of staying competitive in the long run.

If anyone knows how to handle 600 plus kitchen orders a month, it’s Peter Hay. After all, for the last 15 years we have been the largest manufacturer in both size and capacity in New Zealand. In fact we are larger than most Australian manufacturers as well. Peter Hay has invested heavily in Batch Size One techniques. With a large investment, we have been able to keep the economy of scale manufacturing we are known for, but now with the individual needs of our customers.

Peter Hay and Batch Size One; the best of both worlds.

Zero Joint Technology

Peter Hay – one of New Zealand’s leading kitchen companies – embraces new ZERO JOINT technology and launches a new range of laminate doors made with a special process implementing cutting-edge technology, which ensures totally invisible joints along the door surface.

This advanced technology allows for joining the edges using a high-efficiency hot air source. Thanks to this type of processing, the panel and edge are merged to resemble a single piece. The permanent and gap-free welding eliminates aesthetic defects caused by glue residues, while preventing any resulting dirt build-up and yellowing. A cutting-edge solution capable of guaranteeing the utmost functionality, durability and impeccable aesthetics, without any visible interruptions.

On the contrary, traditional methods for gluing the edge material cause visible joints due to the layer of glue. Peter Hay’s new laminate surfaces made with ZERO JOINT technology look so refined that they offer an interesting alternative to glossy and matte lacquered doors. The edges of the faces are perfectly sealed and create an unbroken effect: as a result, the laminate surfaces are easy to clean and appear to be fashioned from a single piece.

Advantages of ZERO JOINT

It can be seen, touched and heard: the quality advantage of ZERO JOINT technology can be perceived with all the senses. A two-fold effect is achieved: a totally invisible gap coupled with an unbroken edge radius. It offers plenty of advantages.

  • Firstly, impeccable aesthetics: the panel and edge appear to be made from the same material. The functional, lasting joint is practically invisible.
  • Resistance and Sturdiness. The joint between the edge and panel is capable of withstanding moisture and heat, as well as heavy mechanical loads. Dirt does not build-up on the edge, neither do yellowish areas form on the latter as a result of the glue.
  • Minimal maintenance and reduced cleaning times.
  • Reduced environmental impact in the production process. The new construction technology allows for saving 20% energy. With the new production procedure, 5% less material is required. Moreover, the production cycle is more eco-friendly and thus helps to safeguard the environment.
