Private Kitchen Workflow Process
Peter Hay Kitchens have been at the cutting edge of cabinet manufacturing in New Zealand since 1973. We offer a total project solution (design, manufacture and installation) of kitchens, bathroom vanities and laundry cabinetry. It would be our pleasure to work with you. This is how we work step by step.
Note, the below process is for our Private Full Service offer only.
STEP 1: Showroom Consultation (Approximately 1 Hour) Free
Relax have a coffee in our 300 sq. metre fully functional showroom and let’s talk about your kitchen desires and vision. Of course, there are endless possibilities, but we need to discuss your requirements. The areas we cover are layout requirements, bench space, storage and work areas. Spatial planning including the aesthetics, flow, design features, style and colours are also covered. We need to discuss investment and costs for the project.
What you need to come armed with are: – either Architects plans and drawings or measure your kitchen space and bring along a fully dimensioned drawing – of course photos are always helpful. At the conclusion of this consultation, we will re-book to meet again in 5-7 working days, this allows us time to work on your design. Step 2 is the next stage.
STEP 2: Presentation Of Concept Design
This take place in our showroom. We will present to you floor plans and 3D images of our initial concept, along with a proposal outlining materials, hardware and cost estimates. We will discuss the layout, view choices and decide on options to move to the next step.
STEP 3: The Design Work Begins
Ready to go ahead? We then require an initial Design Fee of ($1725 INC GST) to cover the considerable design time we invest in order to produce accurate easy to read computer generated elevations, plans, perspectives and full colour renders. This fee will be fully deducted from the total quote (see following Step 4), but it is non-refundable if you do not proceed with the design.
STEP 4: Final Plans And Purchase Agreement
Working together we finalise all aspects of the design specifications. The quotation is finalised, and we present a Purchase Agreement. The Purchase Agreement is then signed. At this point we require a 50% deposit in order to start production. The Design Fee is transferred against the 50% deposit.
STEP 5: Production (Manufacture)
Following a site measure (vital for confirmation of measurements) the kitchen is put into production in our state-of-the-art manufacturing plant.
Lead Times:
Melamine Kitchens – 25 Working Days
Acrylic Kitchens – 30 Working Days
Special Materials – 35 Working Days
STEP 6: Delivery And Installation
Before delivery, we require the outstanding balance of 50% to be paid.
Depending on the size of your project, first installation takes between 2 – 3 days. They can be not consecutive days, as every project is different and requires special processes. Bench tops and/or splash backs will be templated after first installation. The turnaround time from templating to install of the bench top is approximately 10 working days, but this time frame can change depending on finishes and materials.
Usually, a second part of our installation process will take place after other trades have been in, as electricians, plumbers. For instance, Laminate flooring requires the panels to go on after, in order to achieve the best finish. (Please note we are unable to sit kitchens on Engineered flooring types, like laminates: these should be fitted after the first installation).
